Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will showcase the complete ‘bench strength’ of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) during the filing of nomination by Prime Minister and party mascot Narendra Modi’ from his Varanasi parliamentary constituency.
Modi will file his nomination on April 26, a day after holding a mega roadshow in the temple town to recreate the 2014 Lok Sabha poll images, when the party had created a similar extravaganza for its prime ministerial candidate and now the PM.
BJP ally and NDA leaders, notably Janata Dal (United) president and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader and union minister Ram Vilas Paswan etc are likely to accompany Modi, when he files his papers for the 2019 poll.
Besides, the CMs of BJP ruled states are scheduled to arrive to give even higher traction to the mega event, which would simultaneously serve as a tall electioneering pitch for the entire Eastern UP belt.
In 2014, Modi had defeated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal and Congress candidate Ajay Rai from Varanasi.
A total of 13 Eastern UP constituencies, including Varanasi, would witness polling in the final and 7th phase on May 19, before the counting of votes take place on May 23.
