Bollywood film producer Boney Kapoor will make a biopic on football coach Abdul Rahim and shoot the film in Uttar Pradesh.
The film star cast includes Ajay Devgn and Kirti Suresh and it would be directed by Amit Sharma. The untitled biopic would be the 3rd Boney Kapoor film to be shot in UP after ‘Tevar’ and ‘Mom’.
Under Rahim’s tutelage, the Indian football team had won gold medal at the Asian Games in Delhi and Jakarta in 1951 and 1962 respectively. In 1956, the Indian team had reached the semi finals of the Melbourne Olympics.
Yesterday, Kapoor met UP additional chief secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi at the state secretariat and discussed issued pertaining to filmmaking in the state.
Awasthi said UP had emerged as a preferred destination for filmmakers and as such top notch Bollywood capers were being regularly canned in the state.
Currently, Kapoor’s daughter Jahnavi is also camping in Lucknow in connection with the shooting of her 2nd film ‘Kargil Girl’. The film depicts the life of Gunjan Saxena, who was among the country’s first batch of women pilots.
