Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) today started the process of issuing high security Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) cards to Uttar Pradesh legislators.
A central government enterprise, ECIL, functioning under the department of atomic energy, has earlier provided RFID cards for Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) etc.
RFID is a technology platform, whereby digital data encoded in RFID tags are captured by a reader via radio waves. It is difficult to manipulate such data, and as such is used for the purpose of identification of visitors in high security and vital installation premises.
The process of the rollout of RFID cards was unveiled by UP Vidhan Sabha speaker Hriday Narain Dikshit.
With RFID cards, the encoded details of the holder would get flashed on the screen on entry, which would help the security staff of the state legislature to verify their credentials, thus ensuring against unauthorised entry.
