UP government recommends CBI probe in waqf properties

Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has recommended a CBI probe into the alleged irregular sale, purchase and transfer of state waqf properties.

These properties are managed by the UP Shia Central Waqf Board and UP Sunni Central Waqf Board.

According to a UP home department press communiqué last night, the state government letter requesting a CBI probe had already been forwarded to authorities, although finer details have yet not been disclosed.

Earlier, cases pertaining to the alleged impropriety in the transactions involving state waqf properties had been field in Lucknow and Prayagraj (Allahabad) districts.
