Lucknow, 15 Dec
Lucknow Metro has been feted with the coveted ‘National Energy Conservation Award, 2019’ by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) for its innovative energy saving initiatives since its inception.
The award committee comprising eminent jurists adjudged Lucknow Metro as the winner of the ‘Best Metro Award’ in the ‘Transport Sector’ category.
Now, Lucknow Metro is part of the newly constituted Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC).
UPMRC managing director Kumar Keshav received the award along with Corporation director (operations) Sushil Kumar from union minister of state (independent charge) for power and renewable energy R K Singh yesterday.
Every year, 14 December is celebrated as National Energy Conservation Day by BEE since 1991 to create mass awareness about the importance of energy efficiency and conservation.
“Lucknow Metro project is an epitome of efforts made in energy conservation for long term sustainability,” Keshav observed.
