Modi unveils former PM Vajpayee’s statue in Lucknow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 25 foot bronze statue of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Lok Bhawan in the Uttar Pradesh capital on Wednesday.

Modi also unveiled a plaque to mark the foundation laying of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University in Lucknow in the presence of UP Governor Anandiben Patel, chief minister Yogi Adityanath among others. Vajpyee had represented the state capital in Lok Sabha multiple times and nurtured a close bond with the constituency during his lifetime.

In his address, the PM listed out his government’s roadmap for the health sector, preventive and affordable healthcare etc.

Modi noted that the setting up of 125,000 wellness centers in rural areas of India was the key to the preventive healthcare and informed 7 million poor had already availed of free medical treatment under the flagship Ayushman Bharat or Modicare scheme, of which 1.1 million pertained to UP alone.

He also praised the Yogi government for its works in the fields of sanitation and preventive healthcare.
